August 25, 2020 Update

Dear Speech and Language Connections Patients and Families,

We would like to first thank you for the trust you place in us in offering speech and myofunctional services to you and your families.  We are grateful for that!

We are continuing to monitor the effects of COVID-19 as we prepare for the fall schedules.  We also would like to offer a few reminders to help all of us continue to live and work safely during the pandemic. We are obligated to follow the guidelines given to us by our Governor’s Executive Orders, the Center for Disease Control, and the Minnesota Department of Health.

Recently, Governor Tim Walz issued Executive Order 20-81, “people in Minnesota are required to wear a face covering in all indoor businesses and public indoor spaces, unless alone.  People with a medical condition, mental health condition or disability that makes it difficult for a person to wear a mask or face covering is exempt from the order. Children 5 years old and under are also exempt.”

Per Governor Walz’ executive order, we are requesting, that if you or your child are receiving speech services at the clinic, you must wear your face covering before you enter the building and keep it on for the duration of your stay. Your Speech Therapist will ask you to remove your face covering if it is necessary to remove it during therapy.  Following this executive order, will ensure we stay open and continue to provide speech services. Also, please note that our lobby area will remain closed indefinitely until further guidance from the health care authorities. We cannot have crowding in the lobby/entryway of the clinic. When you arrive at the clinic, please call the office to let us know that you have arrived and wait outside until our staff members invite you into the clinic for your appointment.

As we begin planning for the 2020-2021 school year, please note that we are aware that each school district will decide what programs to offer to the students. This year, we will not be aware of their final decisions until the last moment. We will continue to offer in person and Teletherapy virtual visits. We encourage you to contact the office at 763-315-6616 as soon as you are made aware of your school’s schedule. We will make every effort to try to accommodate your needs. Please, do not email or call your therapist for any scheduling needs as they do not have the capability to make schedule changes.

Once again, thank you for choosing Speech and Language Connections for your communication needs. We hope you enjoy the rest of the summer and look forward to providing services to you and your family!
